FAQs

Q?

What type of Yoga do you teach?

A.

My Yoga Diploma was in the Integrated Style which taught us primarily the traditional or Hatha Yoga style, although we learnt about each of the major styles of Yoga including Ashtanga and Iyengar. We learnt 'Pranayama' Yoga breathing, 'Yoga Nidra' relaxation techniques and meditation.

Each teacher begins to lean towards their preferred style of Yoga and I would say that most people say they like my relaxed, inclusive style and calming mindful techniques. Read my testimonials to get more of a feel for my teaching.

Q?

Can Yoga help with weight loss?

A.

Yes, Yoga can assist with this although it may not just be in the form of hours of planking or leg raises. One of the best things about Yoga if done mindfully in conjunction with the breath is that the body switches into the 'parasympathetic' nervous system (calm) which allows the digestive system and respiratory system to function optimally.  When we are stressed the energy or blood flow gets directed to the arms and legs in the typical 'fight or flight' scenario and the body cannot process the food or work to its optimum.
There are of course many physical poses as well that help to tone up and encourage weight loss as well.

Q?

Can I do Yoga if I am not flexible?

A.

Yes! Yoga is perfect for you. Just listen to your body and any past injuries you may have and ask me for appropriate variations. Don't judge your abilities on the person next to you. Each person has their own shape and size. Just do your best and remember if you are not flexible then Yoga is definitely for you. Yoga is great for all people.

Q?

What type of mat should I buy?

A.

I have had several already and a couple started falling apart under my feet. I now am very happy with my Manduka prolite which has a lifetime guarantee which is great for the environment and the little frog symbol reminds us to look after the environment too. It may cost more but it is amazing and will last you your whole life.
